Remembering...

Robert Matthew "Bob" Struckhoff

Struckhoff, Robert Matthew 'Bob' 87, January 1, 2008. Preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Viola, and son, Robert Michael. He is survived by 3 daughters, Patricia Struckhoff, Janice Struckhoff Walleman (Keith) and Joyce Heilich (Ken); grandson Scott Zagar; brothers Joseph and Jerry Struckhoff; and sister Anna Mae Lipson. Bob served in the U.S. Navy as Carpenters Mate 1st Class and was honorably discharged in 1945. He was a member of Carpenters Union Local 5 for 56 years until his retirement at age 62. Bob volunteered at Jefferson Barracks Hospital in the Engineering Dept. for 19 years, and until his death, was active in the St. Catherine Laboure Men's Club. Bob loved woodworking and created countless wooden treasures, many of which were sold and many more were given away. Bob will be dearly missed by all.

Our curator, Greg Rhomberg, has spent numerous hours working with Bob, who has helped Greg with a number of different projects.  Bob has constructed many pieces of his wood- working art for Greg and the Antique Warehouse.  Some of Bob's creations include two totem poles, a dozen wooden decoys, birdhouses, as well as Greg's children's playhouse.  Bob also helped Greg build his Sigma Chi fraternity badge.  All of which are pictured below.
