January 2012

Here we go… Inside St. Louis is our historic restaurant review by Ron "Johnny Rabbitt" Elz. This edition features Frank & Helen’s Pizzeria, “A Family Tradition Since 1956”. That’s because it is family owned and operated for your family’s dinning pleasure. It’s absolutely one of our favorite pizzas of all time and they do Broaster Chicken too!

Keep an eye on the Event Calendar as late winter and spring events are being added weekly. The Great American Paper Show is February 26, 2012 and the opening of Art of the Sign exhibit at Ars Populi Gallery on March 1, 2012. Lastly mark your calendars for the two best antique shows in our opinion; the Chicagoland Coin-Op Show and the Indy Ad show. The Indy Ad show has reconfigured its show hours this year, in keeping up with its vendors and buyers requests.

In the Press; Art of the Sign was featured recently in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and online at stltoday.com. Ars Populi Gallery owner Bill Christman has been gathering signs from all over the county as well as local signs and artifacts from the collections of David Hutson of Neon Time, Jim May’s Purple Cow and Antique Warehouse. The exhibit will promote the significance of signs as art and the techniques master craftsmen used to create them. Art of the Sign will open March 1, 2012.

Our Recent Acquisition is Trautwein’s Red Goose Shoes. Trautwein’s Shoes was in the Bevo neighborhood for nearly 100 years and Antique Warehouse has preserved the sign after the store quietly closed. View the photo gallery as we restore the sign to its former glory.

As always if you have any questions, comments, concerns or information about old signs please feel free to contact us at grr@antiquewhs.com
